When it comes to your cat litter boxes, cat parents usually make two fatal mistakes. Choosing the wrong litter box size or type; which will address in this post, and having the wrong litter box setup.

I’m absurdly picky about litter boxes because the wrong one can kick off litter box problems faster than you can Google “why is my cat peeing on my laundry”.
To your cat, the litter box isn’t a toilet. It’s the entire bathroom.
Lighting. Space. Airflow. Comfort. They all matter.
If the experience sucks, your cat is going to find a better “bathroom” sooner or later.

Litter box Size Guide For Adult Cats
Don’t trust the size label. XL, XXL, Jumbo… every brand makes up their own rules.
The only thing that matters is the dimensions of the usable space, which I list clearly for you.
As a reminder for litter box size, the litter box should be at least 5″ longer than your cat’s back length, so we are looking for:
Bare minimum is 20” long (For small cats).
Ideal size: 24” – 28″ long (For medium to large cats).

And yes, just one. Because most enclosed boxes are trash.
I never recommend enclosed litter boxes.. They’re dark, cramped, low-ceilinged, and a sensory nightmare for cats.
