Resolve the Root Causes of Cat Anxiety, and Litter Box Issues Through Emotional Safety, Regulation, and Fulfillment
1:1 Programs for conscious, loving cat parents ready to help their struggling cats.
Cats are never crazy or unreasonable. They’re highly misunderstood and often unfairly judged. If you truly want to help your cat, you’re in the right place.
Hi, I’m Doaa: A Holistic Cat Trainer
I’m a holistic cat behavior trainer based in Vancouver, Canada. I’ve worked with cats my entire life, including rescue cats and street cats across different countries and environments, and they’ve taught me everything I know about what they need, want, and often struggle with.
Unfortunately, cats remain highly misunderstood and unfairly judged.
We often place them in stressful, unfulfilling environments and relationships without realizing it, or put them through extremely challenging experiences. Then we become frustrated when they reach their breaking point and start showing us they’re truly struggling.
Many well-intentioned cat parents miss the early, subtle signs that their cat is struggling. Others wait months or even years before seeking the help their cat desperately needs.
The reality is that your cat can’t solve their own problems.
They can’t create the enriching indoor environment they need (your home is their entire world). They can’t meet their unmet needs, improve their relationships, or change anything in the world they’re living in.
All they can do is communicate that they’re struggling and ask for help through their behavior.
Litter box issues, anxiety, stress, boredom, rough play, aggression, hiding, and excessive vocalization aren’t personality flaws. They’re feedback.
I created these holistic cat training programs to help cats struggling with behavior challenges of all kinds, while supporting loving cat parents through in-person training in Vancouver and online coaching across Canada and the US, so they can give their cats the life they truly deserve.
It is an honor and privilege to share your home with a cat.
Let’s help them live the happy, fulfilled life they truly deserve.

Cat Behavior Problems I Can Help You Solve
All indoor cats are welcome here
These holistic cat training programs are for cats struggling with any behavior challenges, and for devoted cat parents looking for clarity, direction, and lasting change.
You’re in the right place if your cat is experiencing…
✓ Litter Box Avoidance
Peeing, pooping, or spraying outside the litter box after medical causes have been ruled out.
✓ Cat Aggression & Rough Play
Biting, scratching, hissing, attacking, rough play, or other seemingly unpredictable behaviors that make life stressful for everyone.
✓ Territorial Stress
Not feeling safe, grounded, or settled in their own home due to unmet territorial needs. Cats are homeowners, not guests.
✓ Fear, Anxiety, Stress & Hypervigilance
Hiding under beds, startling easily at every sound, or always feeling cautious and on edge.
✓ Anxious Attachment & Separation Anxiety
Dependency and an inability to cope when you leave the house or go on a trip.
✓ Boredom & Frustration
Pacing, destructive behaviors, overstimulation, intense overnight vocalization, a dysregulated energy cycle, or lacking the fulfilling environment needed to thrive.
✓ Unresolved Past Trauma
Rescue cats carrying the emotional weight of past abandonment, neglect, shelter trauma, or a feral start to life.
✓ Travel Stress
Becoming stressed and overwhelmed by travel, relocation, or environmental changes like moving to a new home, car rides, veterinary visits, or even being confined to a carrier.
✓ Life Changes & Relationship Conflicts
Struggling to adapt to changes at home or get along with other people in the household, including new partners, family members, or a new baby.
✓ Kittens & Teenage Cats
Managing the high energy and curiosity of older kittens and teenage cats. The earlier we build healthy habits, meet their needs, and channel their energy, the better.
✓ Senior Cats
It’s never too late to help a senior cat. Emotional regulation, confidence building, and learning new skills have no age limit.
✓ Overweight Cats
Needing a healthy lifestyle that better supports their physical and emotional wellbeing.
✓ Special Needs Cats
All cats, including those with special needs, can live a fulfilling, enriching life. Sometimes, all it takes is a few thoughtful changes.
What Is Holistic Cat Training, and Why It Works
Holistic cat behavior training is a journey toward understanding your cat on a deeper level – and resolving behavior challenges at the root, for good.
Cats are a lot like us. They want their needs met, their boundaries respected, fair treatment, and a comfortable home where they can feel safe, confident, and truly fulfilled.
Our job as cat parents is to give them all of that and so much more.
This is a judgment-free space where we focus on understanding your cat’s personality type, core needs, and current struggles, so we can help them truly thrive.
Because we control our cat’s environment and life experiences, we’ll use that to our advantage by creating the home, routine, and lifestyle they need, while supporting their emotional wellbeing, boosting their confidence, and improving their social interactions.
By the end of this program, your cat will feel safer, happier, and more fulfilled, and you’ll feel empowered, capable, and connected to your cat like never before.
Inside Your Holistic Cat Training Program
Whether you have an adult cat, kitten, or teenage cat, every program is personalized to your cat, your home, and your lifestyle.
Together, we’ll work on the foundations that create meaningful, lasting behavior change.
Emotional Safety & Regulation
✓ Resolving the root causes of behavior problems instead of simply managing symptoms.
✓ Respecting and working with your cat’s boundaries, not against them.
✓ Meeting your cat’s core needs so they can feel fulfilled by default.
✓ Regulating your cat’s nervous system to shift them out of survival mode (fear and lack) so safety becomes their default state.
✓ Building confidence and empowerment to reduce fear and anxiety while helping your cat develop a strong sense of self and confidence in their ability to handle life’s challenges.
✓ Cat desensitization training through gradual, small steps that change the meaning of current triggers, so your cat can stay calm and grounded in stressful situations.
✓ Supporting your cat’s emotional wellbeing so they can navigate life with greater confidence.
Environment & Lifestyle Upgrades
✓ Creating a cat-friendly home that meets your cat’s territorial needs and helps them feel safe, grounded, and comfortable in their forever home.
✓ Giving your cat safe access to nature and fresh air by creating comfortable spaces around high-value windows. This is both regulating and deeply fulfilling.
✓ Designing the right daily routine to meet your cat’s physical, emotional, and mental needs while naturally regulating their energy levels.
✓ Creating self-entertainment activities that keep your cat active, curious, and fulfilled.
Meaningful Connections & Relationships
✓ Understanding your cat’s unique personality on a deeper level.
✓ Learning feline communication and how to respond to your cat in ways that make them feel respected, seen, heard, and understood.
✓ Strengthening your relationship so trust and connection come naturally.
✓ Improving your cat’s relationships with other people in the household.
Healthy Nutrition & Food Satisfaction
✓ Using clean, natural, cat-appropriate nutrition that your cat genuinely enjoys to support emotional balance, improve hydration, promote better health, and create true food satisfaction.
Cats are supposed to enjoy their food just as much as we do.
Mastering Essential Feline Life Skills
Depending on your cat’s needs, we can also work on learning and mastering practical life skills, including:
✓ Litter box training and retraining, so your cat falls back in love with the litter box.
✓ Carrier training, so carrier trips become calm, stress-free experiences.
✓ Car ride training, so trips to the veterinarian, travel, and relocation become far less stressful.
✓ Harness and leash training for brave, adventurous cats who want to explore the outdoors safely.
✓ Kitten parenting and training.

Doaa helped me understand the underlying issue of my cat, Luna, who became extremely anxious after a traumatic pigeon encounter so I took her to the vet numerous times and they kept giving her injections but it only helped short term and she would return to her stressed and anxious self.I felt stuck so I reached out to Doaa for help and she really listened to my concern and was able to help me understand WHY my cat was so stressed and HOW to help improve the situation. She was able to provide continuous support at any time and answered any questions or concerns.I highly recommend Doaa to help with your pet needs! Thank you so much for helping us!! Luna and Simba appreciate you so much!

Why Start Now
🚫 The Cost of Alternatives:
Most mainstream advice for cats sounds the same: “Try a pheromone diffuser,” “Put your cat on anti-anxiety medication,” or “They’re just being cats.”
At best, these quick fixes temporarily mask the symptoms. They never address the root causes driving your cat’s behavior, leaving your cat stressed, misunderstood, and still struggling beneath the surface.
———-
⚠️ The Cost of Waiting:
Behavior problems don’t magically disappear, and a “let’s just wait and see” approach usually makes things worse.
The longer your cat struggles, the more those behavioral patterns become ingrained and the longer they take to change. Meanwhile, your relationship begins to suffer through growing confusion, frustration, and stress on both sides.
Every day your cat feels unseen, unheard, and misunderstood is another day of unnecessary suffering.
———-
❤️ The Truth:
Your cat can’t “misbehave.”
They communicate the only way they know how, desperately asking for our help while doing their best to cope with a world that feels too overwhelming for them.
Your cat deserves real support, genuine understanding, and emotional safety, just as much as we all do.
The moment you stop judging or suppressing the symptoms and start understanding what’s really driving them, everything begins to change. For both of you.
If you’ve read this far, you already know this problem won’t fix itself, and that your cat deserves more than Google tips, calming sprays, and quick fixes.

Cat Parents Testimonials
Happy Cats and Parents
★★★★★
Out of nowhere my 1.5 year-old indoor loving cat suddenly started peeing on my bed. I tried everything. Nothing worked!Doaa immediately understood my cat’s personality, and came up with a game plan.It took some time but we’re finally able to nail down why she was peeing on the bed.
Whenever I tell people about Doaa I always refer to her as my cat’s “therapist” because that’s what she was.
★★★★★
Our experience with Doaa was remarkable! Our kitty had grown very anxious. He would wake us up screaming and meowing through the night EVERY SINGLE NIGHT for years. We got him on medication that would sometimes help, but our issue wasn’t fixed.
After 2 months of working with Doaa, my cat is completely off his medication, and sleeps through the night EVERY SINGLE NIGHT! It’s a miracle. Doaa truly knows cats inside and out. We give her a million stars, highly recommend!
★★★★★
As a first time kitten mom, I wanted to provide the best nutrition and environment for my cat but I was quite unsure how since I was inexperienced.
Doaa has helped me tremendously and I am very grateful for everything she taught me.
She showed me the good food brands so I know my cat has the best nutrition. She taught me how to raise a strong, confident and independent cat, how to regulate my cat’s energy, how to communicate and build a strong bond with my cat and how to navigate the crazy adolescent cat stage.
She also showed me how to cat proof my apartment to ensure my cat is 100% safe.
Her deep understanding of cats and their behaviour allows her to assess the situation and identify what my cat was trying to tell me.
I totally recommend Doaa if you ever need some guidance on how to provide the best for your beloved pet.
Thank you very much for all your support Doaa! I couldn’t have done this without you! 🙏
★★★★★
Doaa has been incredible for us. She helped us trained our cats. The plan that created and implemented to train our cat was very effective and simple to follow in between her visit. She is a natural with pets with our cats immediately feeling at their ease with her.
Besides that she’s always available for advices or to answer question at any time. She really has the well-being of the pets as her first interest and she provides an excellent service.
Our cats love her!!! We surely recommend her!

We are first-time cat owners, to a 3 y/o female feline rescue, Cocoa.
Doaa is a fast observer, and understands cats in ways that my husband and I can’t even process. she came to quickly understand Cocoa’s disposition, and really understood how to 1) solve her litter box issues, 2) catify the home, and 3) build feline confidence – paired with actual, actionable advice with lots of different product suggestions.
FAQ
Do you work with all indoor cats?
Yes. All indoor cats are welcome here.
Whether your cat is struggling with litter box issues, fear, anxiety, stress, or aggression, it will be my honor to work with yours.
Do you work with indoor/outdoor cats?
No. I only work with indoor cats.
Letting cats outside on their own is dangerous and potentially life-threatening.
There are safe ways to take cats outside, and I’d be happy to help you with that if you’re open to it.
Is catification required for cat behavior training?
Yes. Personalized, effective catification is essential for all indoor cats since they have high territorial needs like we do.
Territorial stress is one of the most common contributors to many cat behavior problems.
Your home is your cat’s entire world.
To feel safe, secure, and truly at home, they need an environment that supports their territorial, emotional, and physical needs.
A well-designed, cat-friendly home can help prevent and resolve common cat behavior challenges that most cats are struggling with.
Don’t worry, though. I’ll tell you exactly what to buy, where to place it, and how to set everything up based on your cat’s personality, needs, and your home’s layout.
What if I have more than one cat?
If your cats are already living together peacefully, we can use the same cat training programs above to support all cats within your household. Please request a custom quote in your booking request.
However, if your cats are struggling to coexist, experiencing ongoing conflicts, or are currently separated, an introduction or reintroduction program is needed as well. Please check out my cat introduction programs in the main menu.
Do cat training programs include cat-to-cat or dog-to-cat introductions?
No – Cat training programs are focused on individual feline behavior issues. They don’t include introducing one cat to other cats or dogs.
For multi-cat or multi-pet households needing introduction support, please check out my pet introduction programs in the main menu.
What’s your Vancouver service area for in-person holistic cat training programs?
I offer in-person cat training programs in Kitsilano, Downtown Vancouver, West End, Yaletown, Fairview, Mount Pleasant, and East Vancouver.
Do you offer online holistic cat training programs throughout Canada and the US?
Absolutely. These cat training programs are also available online to cat parents across Canada and the US.
Is there a difference between in-person and online cat training?
Not at all.
Cat training is all about creating a fulfilling indoor environment where your cat feels safe, at home, fulfilled, and truly self-entertained, while meeting their needs, strengthening your relationship, and addressing the root causes behind their behavior.
My physical presence doesn’t make any difference.
During our initial consultation, we’ll do a virtual tour of your home so I can assess your cat’s environment and identify opportunities for improvements.
Throughout the program, you’ll send me videos, photos, and updates of the changes you are making, and your cat’s feedback so we can refine and improve as we go.
Can you really help with cat aggression through a screen?
Absolutely. There is no such thing as an “aggressive cat.” They’re simply cats stuck in survival.
This is root-cause behavior work, not quick-fixes.
Behavior change starts by understanding the root causes driving your cat’s behavior in the first place.
During our program, we identify your cat’s nervous system triggers, emotional patterns, unmet needs, and environmental stressors, and work on a progressive training plan to create real change and lasting results.
Will I be able to implement this training with my busy schedule?
Yes – absolutely.
My work is entirely personalized, results-driven, and designed to fit into your lifestyle.
For cats in particular, creating the right indoor environment, providing plenty of self-entertainment activities, and establishing an effective daily routine are often the foundations of success. These changes help your cat feel safe, stay active, and remain fulfilled and self-entertained, even when you’re busy.
I do my absolute best to create an implementation plan that is realistic, achievable, and easy to integrate into your everyday life.
What if I need to take a break during the cat training program?
Life happens. Short breaks are totally okay.
Cat training programs are designed with enough flexibility to accommodate them. As long as we stay in touch and keep things moving, we can work around them.
What doesn’t work is taking long breaks or disappearing for months.
Cat behavior training programs rely on consistency, patience, and ongoing practice to create lasting results.
What is WhatsApp support?
It means you don’t have to wait until the next session if something comes up. You’ll have a private WhatsApp chat with me where you can share quick updates, photos, or videos of your cat’s progress, ask questions, and get help with challenges in real time.
This keeps me in the loop, speeds up your progress, and gives you peace of mind knowing you’re never doing this alone.
What kind of results can I expect?
Holistic cat training programs are entirely results-driven.
My goal is to resolve the root causes of your cat’s struggles, eliminate unnecessary sources of stress, and help them feel safe, happy, and truly fulfilled.
I do my absolute best to create a practical, easy-to-implement plan that fits your lifestyle and schedule. Many of the environmental upgrades are “set it and forget it” changes that continue supporting your cat every single day without requiring ongoing effort from you.
Progress is directly tied to implementation, consistency, communication, and your willingness to see things from your cat’s perspective.
As long as you actively participate, implement the plan, and keep me updated on your cat’s feedback, you can expect meaningful improvements and lasting results over time.
How is holistic cat training different from traditional cat training?
Most traditional cat behavior training focuses on managing symptoms or finding quick fixes. Or worse, treating cats like dogs, which often creates more stress for your cat.
My approach is radically different.
I focus on uncovering and resolving the root causes driving your cat’s behavior in the first place, while meeting your cat’s specific needs and wants.
This includes dissolving sources of stress and conflict, meeting their territorial needs, upgrading their environment (their entire world), improving nutrition, and adding plenty of self-entertainment activities to keep them active, curious, and fulfilled.
My work also includes improving your cat’s relationships with everyone they live with, whether that’s people, cats, dogs, or even a new baby.
Instead of asking, “How do we stop this symptom behavior?”
I ask, “What’s driving this symptom behavior in the first place?”
That’s where lasting change happens.
Do you use clicker training or operant conditioning with cats?
No.
Cats are very capable of making their own decisions, and they naturally choose to behave differently once we solve their problems and meet their needs.
My focus is not on teaching your cat what to do.
My focus is on helping and supporting your cat through whatever they’re struggling with.
Once we dissolve the root causes driving their behavior, there will be no need for it.
Do you use positive reinforcement with cats?
My focus isn’t on using rewards to change behavior.
My focus is on positive communication, understanding what’s driving your cat’s behavior, and teaching you how to support them through triggering situations.
Once we address the root causes, behavior often changes naturally.
Do you use negative reinforcement with cats?
Absolutely not. That doesn’t even align with basic cat care.
Can cats be trained like dogs?
Absolutely not.
Cats are an entirely different species. They were born to lead, not follow.
Many cat behavior struggles happen because we treat cats like dogs.
The more we understand and respect cats for who they are, the easier it becomes to work with them.
Do you teach cat tricks?
Absolutely not.
We need to respect our cats. Most cats find this quite insulting and annoying, actually.
Do cats need in-person training?
Absolutely not.
Unfortunately, that’s a common misconception that’s holding many cat owners back from getting their cats the help they desperately need.
Cats don’t need in-person training. It’s all about creating the right environment and making the changes your cat is asking for through their behavior.
We’ll do a virtual home walkthrough during our session, so I can see everything I need to see.
For cats, the environment matters far more than having a trainer physically present in your home.
Can cat behavior problems be solved without medication?
Of course.
The only exception is when your cat’s behavior is driven by an underlying medical condition. In those cases, we’ll work alongside a traditional or holistic vet to make sure your cat receives the medical care they need.
Anxiety, stress, fear, conflict, and many litter box issues are often driven by stressors in your cat’s environment, relationships, daily life, or how they’re being treated.
Whether a medical condition is involved or not, we still need to address all the underlying factors if we want lasting change.
Are you a veterinary behaviorist?
No, I am a holistic cat behavior trainer and animal behavior consultant who specializes in holistic animal training. I have a unique intuitive approach that I developed over the years as a result of working with both shelter animals and street animals (and thanks to all the cats who taught me very well). I am not a veterinarian or a veterinary behaviorist.
If I ever suspect an underlying medical issue contributing to your cat’s behavior problems, I will always encourage working alongside a traditional or holistic veterinarian.
Can you work alongside veterinarians?
Yes.
If your cat has a medical condition, we’ll work alongside your veterinarian to make sure they receive the care they need.
Even when medical challenges are involved, we can still improve your cat’s emotional well-being, confidence, environment, happiness, and overall fulfillment.
After all, emotional health and physical health don’t exist in isolation.
