Vancouver Dog Walk and Train

1:1 Obedience-free, Holistic Dog Walk and Train Programs

with me in Vancouver (Apr-Oct)

Your dog deserves to enjoy their walks – not just survive them. You do too.

When your dog feels safe, confident, and fulfilled on walks, the tension drops, and the reaction fades. And your dog walks become enjoyable again to both of you.

Hi, I’m Doaa: A Holistic Dog Trainer, Vancouver

I’m a holistic dog trainer in Vancouver, BC, and I’ve worked with dogs of all backgrounds, personalities, and behavioral challenges throughout my life.

One thing I’ve learned is that there is absolutely nothing wrong with any dog.

Dogs are emotional beings trying to communicate, cope, adapt, and feel safe in a world humans rarely slow down enough to understand.

If your dog is struggling on walks, they have no choice but to communicate that struggle the only way they know how.

What mainstream training often labels as “dog reactivity problems” are frequently signs of fear, anxiety, overwhelm, unmet needs, frustration, disconnection, or simply a dog struggling to navigate their environment.

I created these 1:1 Dog Walk & Train programs to help dogs struggling with fear, anxiety, reactivity, and overwhelm on walks, while providing busy Vancouver dog parents with hands-on support and real-world training implementation.

These programs combine solo training sessions, where I work directly with your dog, and joint coaching sessions, where we practice together so you can learn how to better understand, support, and advocate for your dog on walks.

The goal is a dog who feels safer, more confident, and more comfortable navigating the world, and a dog parent who feels capable of supporting them every step of the way, so you both get to enjoy your walks together again.

Dog Behaviors I Can Help You With

I’m a holistic dog trainer in Vancouver, and this is for the poor dogs who mainly struggle on walks and outside. Whether it’s leash pulling, reactivity, fear or even aggression on walks, your dog just needs some help.
If your dog walks feel stressful, chaotic, or unpredictabe, you’re in the right place.

This is for your dog if they are :

Pulling on leash like their life depends on it

Reacting to people, dogs, or anything that feels “off”

Barking, growling, or lunging out of fear, frustration, or overwhelm

Chasing bikes, scooters, cars, or anything that moves

Constantly on edge, scanning everything, unable to relax

Sensitive to noise - traffic, construction, sudden sounds

Shutting down, freezing, flattening, or trying to escape

Very social but frustrated for not having their social needs met

Eating everything off the ground

Struggling to adjust to Vancouver city life (especially rescues)

A puppy or adolescent learning how to handle their new world and feel safe in it

Every one of these behaviors is your dog doing their best with what they have.
Let’s give them more – More safety, more confidence, and more support.

One walk at a time.

And this is for you if :

You are a busy dog parent living in Vancouver

You want to help your dog - but don't know how, and don’t have the time to do it all alone

You don’t know how to handle your dog's triggers without getting overwhelmed yourself

You’ve tried advice that didn’t work - or didn’t feel right

You’re done with control, obedience, and surface-level fixes

You want to understand your dog, connect and communicate with them on a deeper level

You want to support your dog on walks, but don't know how

You want to enjoy your walks with your dog instead of dreading them

This program is here to take the pressure off your shoulders, while helping your dog feel confident, happy, and relaxed outside.

How Dog Walk & Train Programs Work

dog walk and train Vancouver
This isn’t about controlling your dog, correcting their behavior, or forcing them to “ignore” what clearly overwhelms them on walks (the “focus on me” fisco).

It’s about changing how your dog perceives their world, staying confident, grounded and capable of handling it all, while enjoying every second of it.

What Makes This Different

This is not obedience training. We don’t rush, suppress, or override your dog’s feelings or reactions.
Instead, we slow things down, acknowledge what your dog is struggling with, and learn how to move them from survival to safety.
This is nervous system regulation, building emotional safety and unshakable confidence to conquer the world and everything in it, so your dog stays grounded and takes charge.

Your dog is allowed to move, explore, and take the lead (as long as it’s safe to do so) - this alone builds confidence fast.

We work through triggers instead of avoiding or distracting from them.

Your dog learns to feel safe around people, dogs, noise, and movement.

Walks become fulfilling, not frustrating - mentally, emotionally, and physically

Loose leash walking happens naturally when your dog no longer feels the need to pull.

This is a relationship-based approach built on trust, communication, and understanding – not control.

Solo Walk & Train Sessions

Solo walk & train sessions are where I take your dog on walk training sessions myself; without you, where we focus on:

Building real confidence and emotional safety on walks

Reducing reactivity by changing the meaning of the triggers

Creating seriously enjoyable & fulfilling walks that count

Supporting healthy socialization with other people and dogs

Helping your dog feel comfortable in new environments, places, and situations

Guiding puppies and adolescents to grow into stable, resilient adults

Joint Dog Walk & Train Sessions

Those are walk training sessions we do all together where you will be learning :

How to follow your dog's rhythm on walks

How to read and properly respond to your dog on walks

How to handle triggering situations while supporting your dog with ease and confidence

How to communicate in a way your dog actually understands and responds to

How to safely socialize your dog with other people and dogs on walks

How to create a fulfilling daily routine that supports your dog's needs and fits your lifestyle

Are We A Good Fit?

This is for busy Vancouver dog parents who genuinely care about their dogs and are ready to do things differently.
You don’t have unlimited time. But you’re not looking for shortcuts either.

We’re a Good Fit If:

    • You’re open-minded, and ready to do things differently.
    • You care deeply about your dog’s well-being, not just their behavior.
    • You’re done with obedience, control, and quick fixes that don’t last.
    • You’re willing to show up, stay consistent, and implement what we work on.
    • You want real, lasting change, not quick fixes.
This is a high-touch, real-world program.
It’s intentional work for dogs and for the humans who care about them.
If that resonates, we’re likely a great fit.

    🚫 We’re Not a Good Fit If:

      • You’re looking for quick tips, hacks, or surface-level advice.
      • You want fast results without doing any work.
      • You can’t let go of control, obedience, or rigid training methods.
      • You’re not open to looking at your dog’s emotional experience.
      • You want to hand this off completely and not be involved.

1:1 In-Person Holistic Dog Walk & Train Programs in Vancouver

    (April – October)

Let’s stop surviving your dog walks and start enjoying them again

Vancouver dog walk and train program mockup

Whether you’re just starting to notice reactivity, or your walks have felt like a struggle for a while, there’s a program here that meets you and your dog exactly where you are, and moves you forward.

What You Get (Included in Every Program)

Every program – Reset, Thrive, or Transform – follows the same core experience.
The difference is how many sessions we have, and how long we work together.
    ———-
1:1 Weekly Walk & Train Sessions (2 Hrs) : Include solo sessions where I work directly with your dog in real environments – building confidence, working through triggers, and changing how they experience the outside world. And joint sessions where you’ll join us, so you can learn, practice, and feel confident continuing the work yourself.
    ———-
Ongoing Implementation Support: This is where real change happens. Not theory. Not guesswork. As you apply the work in real life, I guide you, and help you respond to your dog’s feedback – so you’re never left wondering what to do next.
    ———-

1:1 WhatsApp Progress Updates: You’re supported during the entire program duration. You’ll receive updates from my solo walks with your dog, and you can send videos, ask questions, and get feedback as things come up – so momentum never drops.

    ———-

Personalized Strategy & Root-Cause Work: We identify your dog’s personality, emotional patterns, and underlying needs – so we’re not managing symptoms, we’re changing the cause.

    ———-

Confidence Training & Nervous System Support: We rebuild your dog’s confidence and emotional safety step by step. Through structured walks, and gradual exposure to triggers, your dog learns how to feel safe, grounded, and capable in the real world.

    ———-

Walks That Actually Fulfill Your Dog:
To your dog, walks are everything. Walks stop being frustrating or chaotic. They become engaging, fulfilling and naturally regulating – meeting your dog’s needs without you having to constantly manage or control everything.

    ———-

    ✅  Lifestyle & Routine Upgrades:
Your dog’s daily life can either regulate or create more stress. We adjust routines, environment, and enrichment so your dog feels balanced and supported every day – not just during training.

    ———-

Mindset & Awareness Work for You (the Parent): This isn’t just about your dog changing. You learn how to stay calm in real-life situations, communicate clearly, and become someone your dog can rely on outside.

    ———-

Results-Driven Partnership: This isn’t a drop-off service. I’m fully invested in your dog’s progress – and you’re part of the process too.

    ———-

That’s what creates real, lasting change.
    This is where behavior changes.
And where your relationship with your dog changes with it.

    Why Start Now

    🚫 The Cost of Alternatives:
Most obedience-based quick fixes suppress your dog’s emotions, ignore their needs, and create compliance through stress. It might look good on the surface, but it breaks trust – and makes things worse long-term.

    ———-

    ⚠️ The Cost of Waiting:
Doing nothing means living with constant stress, confusion, and a fragile relationship that keeps eroding over time. The longer you wait, the deeper the patterns become.

    ———-

    ❤️ The Truth:
Your dog deserves way better than obedience – they deserve understanding, fulfillment, and emotional freedom. And so do you.

Every dog’s story is different. What matters is choosing the right level of support for where you and your dog are right now – and where you want to be.

    ★★★★★

    Our pups love Doaa!

Since working with her, they have gained so much confidence and are much more social with other dogs and people – she really has helped enrich their lives!

The dogs are also a pleasure to walk for us now, which wasn’t always the case with two enthusiastic young puppies.

    ★★★★★

I’m so grateful for Doaa. My corgi can be very reactive, and finding someone with some unique ideas, patience, and understanding to handle his reactivity was such a challenge.

Doaa’s consistent approach has made a noticeable difference in his behaviour. He has improved a lot on walks. Each walk isn’t just exercise; it’s a structured training session where my corgi learns to manage reactivity and focus in real-world situations.

    ★★★★★

Doaa is so wonderful with our pup! She’s helped us with training, and walks since he was a puppy.

She was a great help when our pup was in a cast after surgery and during rehab.

    Joyce

    ★★★★★

I’m so glad we happened to meet Doaa while she was walk-training another dog. She masterfully handled my dog and the one she was training, and so I asked, “Are you a dog trainer?”
Since then, she’s been working with our rescue pup and helping to unlock her full potential. Doaa is a natural with animals, and is also great at listening to pup-parents needs. Definitely would recommend!

    FAQ

Do you work with all dogs?

Yes. All dogs are welcome here, regardless of history or behavior. They all deserve a second chance and to get the help & support they need. It will be my honor to work with yours smile

Where will the sessions take place?

Solo sessions take place in your neighborhood within my Vancouver service area, where I work directly with your dog to help them feel more comfortable, confident, and social in their everyday environment.
Joint sessions can take place anywhere in the city, especially in new neighborhoods where your dog may need additional support.

If needed, we can also incorporate car ride training into our work together.

    What’s your Vancouver service area?

I offer in-person dog walk & train programs in Kitsilano, Downtown Vancouver, West End, Yaletown, Fairview, Mount Pleasant, and East Vancouver.

What gears do you use for leash walking?

I only need a well-fitted, comfortable, escape-proof harness (with a back clip), a 6 ft leash, and a name tag.

Ideally haevy duty, high quality ones, especially if we have leash pulling issues.

Nothing else. I don’t use any other tools.

How often are the solo walk & train sessions?

Solo walk & train sessions are scheduled weekly, typically 1 to 3 times per week depending on your dog’s needs and your schedule.

Ideally, solo sessions are scheduled on your busiest days, when you don’t have the time to practice outside.

How do the Walk & Train programs start?

The first session is a joint walk where you walk me through everything – your dog’s history, what’s been going on, and what your walks currently look like.

Then, I take over and start our solo sessions.

What if I have more than one dog?

We will use the same walk & train programs above, but with splitting sessions between your dogs, so I will walk & train each dog individually to solve each struggles on walks.

The sessions could be longer, I’ll give you a custom quote after reviewing your situation.

Do you offer dog walk & train programs year-around?

No. Sorry! My walk & train programs run seasonally from April to October.

During the winter months, I take a little winter hibernation from the weekly sessions.

That said, support is year-around 🙂

Will I be able to implement this training with my busy schedule?

    Yes – absolutely.

My work is entirely personalized, results-driven, and designed to fit into your lifestyle.

Rather than asking you to set aside hours for repetitive, robotic training drills, we focus on creating meaningful shifts in communication, environment, walks, and daily routines.

I do my absolute best to create an implementation plan that is realistic, achievable, and easy to integrate into your everyday life.

What if I need to take a break during the program?

Life happens – short breaks are totally okay. As long as we stay in touch and keep things moving, we can work around it.

What doesn’t work is long pauses or disappearing for months.
This process relies on consistency, and requires commitment to create lasting change.

Can I repeat walk & train programs if I need more support?

    Yes – absolutely.

Because this isn’t just about your dog’s progress – it’s also about your capacity, your schedule, and how quickly you’re able to take over.

Some dog parents need more time and hands-on support to feel more confident and comfortable taking over.

What kind of results can I expect?

These dog walk and train programs are results-driven. My goal is to help your dog build confidence, feel safer, and enjoy life to the fullest.

Progress is directly tied to implementation, consistency, communication, and your willingness to see things from your dog’s perspective.

As long as you actively participate, implement the training plan, and stay consistent with the recommended practices, I will do my absolute best to support both you and your dog every step of the way.

My goal is not only to help your dog succeed, but also to help you feel confident and capable supporting them long after our work together is complete.

Most importantly, lasting success requires a genuine desire to understand, help, and advocate for your dog.

How is holistic dog training different from traditional training?

Traditional dog training often relies heavily on obedience training, control, suppression, operant conditioning, symptom management, and even a manipulative version of positive reinforcement training. All designed to please the human at the expense of the dog.

My work focuses on emotional safety, nervous system regulation, confidence building, fulfillment, effective canine communication, and resolving the root causes of behavior problems.

I work with your dog, not against them. Their feelings, needs and wants matter A LOT.

When your dog feels safe, valued, and fulfilled, their behavior problems fade away because there’s no longer a need for them.

    What does “obedience-free” actually mean?

It means we stop fighting the symptoms and start understanding the dog having them.

I don’t use control to suppress unwanted behaviors. I work with your dog to genuinely solve their problems because we are the only adults in this relation, and we are the only ones capable of resolving our dog’s struggles for good.

    Do you use positive reinforcement?

If by positive reinforcement you mean positive communication; praising, celebrating, encouraging, and helping dogs feel safe, valued and truly understood, then yes, absolutely.

However, I don’t use positive reinforcement transactionally to distract, suppress, override, or manipulate behaviors while ignoring your dog’s needs or struggles.

I’m not interested in bribing dogs into compliance. I’m interested in helping them feel safer, more confident and more fulfilled.

A well-behaved dog is a well-regulated one who feels free, capable, respected, and supported by a parent who always has their back.

How do I help my dog build confidence?

Building your dog’s confidence requires a mindset shift first.

It begins with recognizing that defensive behaviors are often expressions of fear, vulnerability, overwhelm, or unmet needs.

When you shift your perspective from “my dog is reactive or stubborn” to “my dog is struggling,” you can show up as a grounded, protective parent instead of a frustrated one.

During this program, we’ll map out what confidence building will look like for your dog based on their personality, current triggers, environment, unmet needs, and your relationship dynamic.
